👋 One Checklist: Winning Strategies To Transform Your Web3 User Onboarding
From curious newcomers to engaged experts - what does it take?
New tools, platforms and business models are emerging at a pace like never before. With this comes a consumer market where there are substitute products for pretty much every need. But there is also a form of analysis paralysis because many applications and use cases look very similar.
So, how to stand out that the users choose you?
The onboarding experience has become a critical component in determining success.
Here's one for you:
🔲 User-Friendly Interface:Simplify navigation for ease of useEnsure consistency in layout and design elementsUse clear and concise language in all instructions and labels 🔲 Seamless Account Creation:Minimize the number of required fields for registrationOffer social media or single sign-on options for quicker registrationImplement strong but user-friendly security measures (e.g., two-factor authentication)

Iterate, optimize, repeat!
📊 One Metric To Consider This Week: Abandonment Rate
Let's say you're revisiting your user onboarding process based on the checklist above. One of the first aspects you'll probably stumble upon is the account creation process.
If you're trying to understand how seamless your account creation process is, a useful metric to investigate further could be Abandonment Rate.
The metric shows the percentage of users who start the account creation process but do not complete it.
📏 Measurement: Track the number of users who begin the process and the number who abandon it before completion. 🔍 Interpretation: A high abandonment rate may indicate difficulties or pain points in the account creation process that need to be addressed.
⛓ One Tool To Look At This Week: TrustCheck
One of my very first Web3 experiences was... a rug pull.
Since then, you can hear me rambling about the security of decentralized applications, because my experience was not an isolated case. In fact, "[...] the 2 most common types of scams are "permissions compromises" and "rug pulls"."
And scams are also what most non-Web3 users are most hesitant about when thinking about interacting with a blockchain-based product or service.
Thus, speaking of key differentiators that elevate your user experience from your competition: strong but user-friendly security measures are a big one!
A free browser extension that I use as an end-user is TrustCheck, a nifty tool developed by Web3Builders, a group of former AWS, Oracle, Harvard, MIT and Coinbase employees:
"Whether its flagging phishing sites, drainers, spam loops, risky approvals, dangerous signing requests, or something else, we make it easy to understand what's about to happen when you transact."
What about partnering up with them and integrating it into your user experience to make sure your users navigate the space safely?
Kudos to Riccardo & team for building this :)
“The only way you are going to have success is to have lots of failures first."
