Boost community engagement & retention with CRM for web3.
Welcome and GM to The Web3 CRM Brief - or short, tw3c.
tw3c is the number one web3 CRM newsletter for marketers, growth and project managers who scale web3 communities. In this newsletter, I'll share the most interesting stories about

👋 One Best Practice: The Smurfs Tap Into The User Desire For Adventure To Create The Ultimate Community Experience
"Gargamel is at it again, in his never ending pursuit to capture the Smurfs, he has stolen their magic and turned them to stone! But all hope is not lost. With technology on their side, the Smurfs' Society, lead by the new smurfy hero Hacker Smurf, is ready to defeat Gargamel at his own game, liberate the Smurfs, and promote the Smurfs' values to make the web (and the world) a better place" (The Smurfs' Society).
Now - who wouldn't want to jump in and help save the Smurfs?
With a decades-old history, the Belgian comic franchise The Smurfs, first created in 1958, establishes a one-of-a-kind holistic fan experience that combines
✅ a hero story that rallies the community members against a common enemy✅ a narrative that smoothly extends the world of Smurfy adventures as we know it to the web3✅ a value-driven mission to make the web and the world a safer place
As a vehicle to make this experience come to life, the project called The Smurfs' Society leverages gaming as the means to connect the community. The games are anchored around solving quests, earning rewards, trading and co-creating in-game items that the users can then use to earn their ticket to mint one of 12.500 PFP NFTs.
A major draw for attraction to this project certainly is its unique narrative. What is the hero story of your project? Craft it to stand out.
📇 One CRM Mechanic For Your Project: Goal Setting
When considering how to adapt the most effective CRM tactics for a web3 project, we should not take the second step before the first.
I talk to many web3 marketers, growth and project managers, and most of them face the same challenge: getting executive buy-in for more marketing and sales resources. However, making effectiveness visible can help clarify the importance of allocating resources to activities that drive both awareness and conversion.
Here are 3 CRM objectives for inspiration:
Improve member satisfaction (e.g. decrease time to respond)
Improve operational efficiency (e.g. implement automation workflows for content distribution)
Improve member retention (e.g. increase member lifetime value)
📊 One Metric To Consider This Week: Redemption Rate
The most important metrics for a web3 project will depend on the specific goals and objectives of it. It's important for web3 projects to identify the key metrics that are most relevant to their success, and to track and analyze those metrics over time to understand how the project is performing.
Is your goal to understand how meaningful your relationship with your community is?
Then, a metric to consider could be the redemption rate.
It's one thing to implement a loyalty program to encourage your community to be active contributors. But if no one is using their rewards and not redeeming them, that should get you thinking. In fact, about 85% of loyalty points in regular loyalty programs go unused.
If you offer a form of loyalty or membership component to your community, what is your redemption rate? If it's below 20%, it might be time to reevaluate what you offer your community.
⛓ One Tool To Look At This Week: More Members In Minutes
As touched upon in last week's newsletter, there are several native web3 tools that make it possible to use affiliate marketing tactics with just a few clicks to grow an user base. Since acquiring new users remains among the top goals for web3 projects this year, this could be interesting for a few of you.
Thus, this week, I'd like to highlight ShareMint, a rewards-based network that enables you to launch a new referral program within minutes. It essentially lets you reward your community members with a share in profits for referring new members to your project. Functionalities like one-click payouts, token-gating, on-chain analytics and transparent reporting are already in place along with built-in marketplace for an extra awareness boost for your project.
With a current network reach of +1M and +2.000 affiliates registered, ShareMint currently supports the Ethereum and Solana chains with more following soon.
Kudos to Eliezer Steinbock & team for building this :)
