We're switching things up by introducing a new category: One Product Idea.

The goal is to inspire and spark discussions, brainstorming, hacking... as a community to make value-adding use cases of blockchain technology more tangible and actionable.

๐Ÿ‘‹ One Product Idea: Self-Sovereign Credentialing

Last week, we dove deeper into the importance of having high security standards for dApps.

This week, we're making a product idea out of it for one aspect of identity management: credentialing. If you like it and want to build it out further, take it.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Product: Platform for self-sovereign credentialing๐Ÿ‘‰ Industry application: Education, Employer Branding

๐Ÿ‘‰ Context: Before starting my role at Meta, I had to pass a background check comprising of certifications of past employers and academic records. This literally took 3 weeks to complete since my academic records where spread across different formats and country norms from Germany, the UK, France and the US. This could have been a click.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Added value: Imagine a world where you can effortlessly manage and share your academic achievements with just a few clicks.

That's the power of blockchain technology applied to the realm of education and broader identity management.

By creating a secure, tamper-proof, and portable digital credentialing system, anyone can now own and control their academic credentials, eliminating the need for cumbersome paperwork and manual verification processes.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Product ideation and Go-to-Market: Let's dive into the key components of how to turn this use case into a successful Web3 product:

  1. Partner with educational institutions and accreditation bodies to integrate their credential issuance process with your blockchain-powered platform. This will help establish credibility and encourage widespread adoption.

  2. Develop an easy-to-use interface that allows users to effortlessly store, manage, and share their credentials. Simplicity is key to encourage adoption among students and educational institutions alike.

  3. Offer value-added services like automatic verification and background checks for potential employers, reducing the time and effort required for the job application process.

  4. Collaborate with other Web3 service providers to build an ecosystem that enhances the utility of your platform, such as integrating with job portals or professional networking sites.

By combining these strategies with a well-executed go-to-market plan, you can create a successful Web3 product that revolutionizes the world of academic credentialing and paves the way for a more efficient and transparent future in education.

Adding this feature as an employer can be a great differentiator in a talent's market by making it quick and easy to share such information in an application and onboarding process.

๐Ÿ“Š One Metric To Consider This Week: # Of Support Tickets

Education is certainly one of the industries that could benefit from integrating a layer of Web3 technology to streamline processes. At the same time, it's also an industry with a lot of non-Web3 native users that may have hesitations to interact with such a product.

Making it as easy of an application to use as possible thus is crucial to onboard new users to it.

If you're trying to understand how well you've designed your onboarding process including the wallet creation and connection, a metric to look at could be the # of support tickets.

๐Ÿ“ Measurement:Keep track of the number of support tickets and user feedback related to wallet setup and connection.๐Ÿ” Interpretation:Frequent issues or negative feedback could indicate areas where the onboarding process needs improvement to increase the willingness to interact with the dApp.
